With personal information being increasingly digitised, there
are increased concerns regarding the control and protections given to
individuals over their information. Significant data breaches have highlighted
both the importance of personal information handling as well as the need to
update privacy laws.
Recently, the Government issued
proposals, which outline significant changes to privacy laws. This presentation
will examine the privacy law proposals and consider their practical
implications for life insurers. The presentation will include helpful checklists,
as well as cover recent privacy decisions affecting life insurers. In
particular, privacy reforms to cross border disclosures of personal information
will also be discussed.
