Non-Alcoholic
Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a highly prevalent condition in Australia, and
it may become the leading cause of liver transplantation in the coming decade.
Although it is often assumed to be part and parcel of the other associated
metabolic risks, it has actually been shown to be an independent cardiovascular risk factor. Yvette Pheiffer, Medical Officer at Hannover Life Re Australasia, will take us through this interesting
topic and will discuss the findings from a recently completed review of the
mortality and morbidity risk related to NAFLD.
